I managed to do nothing useful

Nice one Bill, I managed to feed myself, take delivery of a grocery order, and staying up till midnight booked another. Attended to my cat's demands, she's a right little madam. 😂

At least I got my meal delivery on Wednesday, they still aren't completely back to normal but should be by next week my driver said.
Because it is a global company the outage was a major upset.
I usually do my ordering and paying online but did it via the phone and had to do something I've not done for years, paid by cheque, giving it to the driver when he delivered my meals.
I just hope it goes through the bank okay as I've not done my signature for years so I hope they recognize it. :eyeroll:

You sound as busy as me!

A cheque! Blimey, I don't even think I have a cheque book anymore, I doubt they'd even bother looking at the signature. It's a good job you had a cheque book though otherwise, you'd be a bit hungry now. 🤣

I had a new one that I'd put in the leather folder I used for them but hadn't actually started it until this one to pay for my meals. I don't think I'd have gone hungry, I think Peter would have left the meals and just told me to pay when they had the system fully operational again.

Are you sweltering up your way Angie, we are down here, mind you they say the hottest part of the day is between noon and 3pm, not here, it's hotter late afternoon early evening, well that's how it feels. 🤣

Yeah, it's roasty toasty at the minute. We sat out in it yesterday, and it was glorious, although today, it's rather dull and rained a little. It still feels very muggy and close though.

I was really hot last night, but it seems to have eased a little today. John tells me it will be like this all week, which is good and bad in equal measures.

This is just another typical day for Bill, me thinks.

We rarely have humidity. We "normally" have mid to high 70s although there are more and more hot days/streaks every year

Well typical weather for the UK, after really sweltering up to Monday, yesterday was overcast all day with the sun just putting in an appearance after it was starting to set. Today the sun is back but it's not as hot as it was before, it is still warm but it's bearable. :loveit:

Wait until next week, when we hit over 30, so John keeps telling me anyway.

I want to bake, but the weather is putting me off a bit. I'm actually organising all my stuff at the minute as I found when I was making my last cake I couldn't find anything so now I'm putting everything in its rightful place so when I do need to use it, I'll then wonder where I've put it. :lmao:

Hope you get your stuff into order, John used to make me laugh his desk was covered in papers but he always said he knew where everything was. It wasn't always the case. 😂

The sun is out again today but it is cooler, there is a breeze blowing which is helping, and being near the coast helps. Of course I live on the East Coast and it's the West Coast getting hit more with the high temperatures, especially London because of being so built up. I think we are keeping these temps for the next few days, but we'll wait and see, I just go by what it's like each day when I get up and go from there, I don't usually take much notice of weather forecasts because we have our own climate in this neck of the woods. :)

Had my @ home eye test today, over a year late, should have had it in October last year. She had phoned earlier this year to give me an appointment but then had to cancel as she caught Covid.

Originally she was going to come Friday but she phoned me on Wednesday to tell me she had spare time today if that was any good for me, I said yes as that would suit me better as it would not interfere with my Tesco delivery on Friday.

I've had bifocals for years but she suggested I might get on better with varifocal so I'm going to give them a try.

She gave me one bit of news I could have done without, apparently, I have cataracts developing so she'll have to keep a watch on them. :scream:

Wow, I remember you mentioning that. I don't like the split in the glasses where you can see two or three different things; I can only do one thing at a time! 😂 you'll have to let me know how you get on with them.

Oh dear, well, it's good that she's spotted it, so hopefully, they will keep a much closer eye on you now rather than leaving you so long. No pun intended.

Which sort are you talking about with the split, bifocal or varifocal?

I've worn bifocals for that many years they work very well and my eyes adjust however I look through them and I don't notice the split in them whether I'm looking distant or close up.

I have a pair of single-vision glasses that I've had since not long after starting to wear glasses which were done with the distance roughly from my eyes to the computer monitor screen. At the time I got them they were for using my desktop computer monitor but I still wear them to use my laptop but I can watch TV with them as well.

She told me that the varifocal would do everything, distance, computer, reading and just generally moving around, although they would take a bit of getting used to at first. :)

I know about bifocals, I don't like the split in the middle where you see one thing one way and then another. I just have single-vision ones, albeit they are two slightly different prescriptions. They work for me equally, depending on what I'm working on.

The varifocals are all in one; good luck if you're getting those. I think when I need multi variations, I'll just stock up on about nineteen pairs of glasses. 🤣

:scream: You can keep it. The only way I can know what the temperature is is my central heating portable unit that you use to control the temperature of the heating. It's on a shelf just inside the living room and the front door. Trouble is it is that side of the bungalow where the sun is at its hottest time. Of course I've got the blinds down at those windows before the sun gets to them which helps a bit and the hottest it's shown was yesterday and it was 30°C. Today started off grey, we had rain and a thunderstorm then the sun came out and the temp is showing now as 29.5°C

I'm sitting here with a small fan blowing over me on my left side and a bigger one that you can put water in on the right side of me, that arrived by courier this afternoon. It should have come via next day delivery last Wednesday but didn't.
I got onto the retailer yesterday and they refunded the next day cost and she ordered another and told me it would be here today, and it was.

Even though it was shown as out for delivery last Wednesday in the middle of the afternoon the tracking showed that they had found out it was bigger than they expected and it needed a specialist courier to deliver, that is where the status stuck. The lady I spoke to agreed with me that there was no way it could be classed as too big. The unit itself only weighs just over a Kilo plus the cardboard box it was packed in. :dizzy:

I saw that on the news yesterday Bill, there are a lot of people complaining that they shouldn't be made to wear that full uniform during heatwaves. Mind you even in our usual weather you have soldiers fainting when they have to be on parade wearing it.

I wonder, I know they want to make the monarchy more modern. I don't think they'll be able to change too much, tradition is part of the British make-up it's part of the reason we are British. :)
