Merry Christmas my wonderful members and behind the scenes people, I hope you have all had a wonderful day. :D John showed me this and I thought it was absolutely magical.

Thank you Angie, the same to you and all your helpers.

It's Boxing Day now and I'm washing and still trying to get my head round what TV I want, mind you the new box hasn't arrived yet. :eyeroll:

Got my new box just now, only just opened it and John stands there saying "well come on then get it fixed up". :eyeroll:

Ok just ordered a new TV, a 40" Samsung LED which will arrive on Friday and they will do all the installations for me and take the old TV away. Really looking forward to the bigger improved viewing.

You're proper techno Joan, I was just saying to My John how bizarre it is that you are the geek in your house, it makes me giggle. Glad you have ordered the new tv, ab fab especially with your new hd box too and all sorted for the new year. Did you get a good deal on the tele as I know they tend to do more deals in Jan.

We haven't bought any new gadgets although we have been out for flooring today as we are going to do a bit of household DIY whilst the holidays are still going on and there isn't that much to do. I did teach Han to roller skate yesterday which she loved and then nearly got caught up in a snow storm but other than that nothing exciting is going on. I'm lucky if I know what day it is, I seem to lose track over the Christmas period.

.....Bill yes I did see the Elf video, I thought it was fabulous!

:D I know Angie my John is not technically anything. :D Noel will tell you that, the first time we met up and went out for a meal we spent most of the time talking tech, my John just sat there, he did manage the odd word. I'm sure it wasn't as bad the next time we went for a meal. :roflmao:

I did manage to get the TV cheaper in the Boxing Day sales, we might have got it cheaper in the January sales I'm not sure but I'd got the box and didn't want to wait too long before it got connected. Have you tried ice skating with Hannah ? I used to roller skate as a kid but then took up ice skating for awhile at Nottingham Ice Rink.

@Bill, I know I've only got a few days to wait but I'm really excited about it, wont get F1 in HD unless it's on the BBC for the races they show, you have to have the sport package to get the F1 channel and we are not paying for that or the movie channel. I'm looking forward to watching Geo Wild and the other nature programs. The problem we have with the TV we have is that you lose what is on either side of the screen. It's a Toshiba 28" CRT.

Aww that's really sweet! Bless him, I bet he just nodded now and again, I'm used to the jargon now but every now and again my eyes glaze over. Hee hee.

I'm glad you got a bargain Joan, I'm assuming you got it online and didn't venture out into the chaos of the post Christmas shoppers looking to spend their dosh.

Nooooo, Hannah went Ice Skating a few weeks ago with Jean and nearly broke her wrist, I had it strapped up for 2 days. She's just about managed to keep her balance on the skates and needs to build up her momentum so once she is whizzing around with them then I may take her Ice Skating. I used to go loads as a kid, the roller rinks had shut down then but we used to go Ice Skating all the time it was great fun. :D

Yes I did get it online, went to ao.com for it, they were the only ones I found that actually offered an installation service and took away the old TV. That alone is worth the money as it's a great big CRT monster and we wouldn't be able to move it. We've already got another one plus one a bit smaller here taking up room that the son-in-law left here. :(

Haven't left the house in several weeks nor do we have a store near enough to us for us to shop for electrical items.

I used to love ice skating as well, I'm sure the ice rink in Nottingham is still going it's where Torvil and Dean went. I don't remember if there was a roller rink or not. Glad Hannah didn't break anything, as long as it's not put her off. :D

Wow you had an old CRT crikey I bet that had some weight in it. You can't beat it when they take your old stuff away, we do that all the time now, it's so much easier and gives you peace of mind. Have you mounted the new one to a wall or do you have a stand for it?

So if you haven't left home in ages how did you do your shopping, do you do it online too? I used to love doing mine online but his lordship prefers to go and browse lol. I detest food shopping :eyeroll: although I need to go soon as I have three rounds of bread and a bit of milk lol.

We have been decorating mission control today, it took a few attempts as we didn't like the first colour that we bought and then we found some other paint so three colours later and it's finally done, along with a wooden floor, it looks really good now and I've cleaned everything so its positively gleaming. Hopefully now John will get rid of his rubbish and it will stay tidy for a while......I'll not hold my breath but I live in hope. Hee hee .

Nothings happened with the TV yet as the new one doesn't get here till Friday. It will sit on the stand the old ones on, the walls in this house are only sheets of plaster board, the only solid wall is the chimney breast and that has my Eight Immortals cross stitch picture on plus the enormous window is facing it and that has the sun coming in all day. Even having the TV in the corner where it is if the suns out we have to have the curtains shut.

I do my food shopping online, Tesco every Thursday plus Asda every other week on a Wednesday. In fact they're both coming tomorrow. :D When I was able to get out I'd catch the bus to the Co-op in Pembroke because they delivered, I'd go there on a Friday and do what I called my top up shop, can't manage it anymore now though. John goes to Lidls to get veg but that's for the guinea pigs although he does get a few other things for us.

What room have you been decorating ?

The is the set up for the TV at present.

Looks good Joan, it will look even better with your new shiny one, I know what you mean about the sun, we got blinds so that I could re direct it. It happens in my office a lot so I end up with them closed a lot of the time.

Lol, I never thought about doing both, I am very impressed with you, I'm not sure I could change his mind, I secretly think he likes shopping! We did a mini shop the other day and nipped out early this morning, we didn't get anything we wanted but I did bag a bargain cardigan and got Han a load of stuff. I've put the house back together today and moved all the tools after we finished John's office. He doesn't like it but I think it's fab.

Here's a few pics for you of late......

Sorry but that is all you can have, my upload speed is diabolical, so much for Broadband in September! Only waited 4 years for it but hey ho not long now! :eyeroll:

On a happier note...

I would like to wish you all a wonderful New Year's Eve and a fantastic year ahead!

Joan, you'll have nowhere to put all the knickknacks on top of the TV now :)

Happy New Year to all :D

I know Bill, although some of them are Christmas ones so only come out then. I'd said as much to John that I'd have no where the things to go.

Got an email today to tell me it will arrive tomorrow and they will send me a text around 7am to tell me my 4 hour slot. Just hope it's not an early one it takes me longer these days to be ready.

I'm excited though and can't wait for it to arrive and be set up, it will be nice to see all the writing on the screen instead of things being missing either side the screen. :)

Any questions I can help with let me know. I know you are gadget mad, so you can probably figure everything out

Thanks Bill, at the last check delivery is due between 12.30 and 14.30 I've moved everything away that was around the telly so he's got room to move so it's just a matter of waiting.

Whoopee! Wow really surprised about the size. Still playing around with it, I think I've solved the picture being dark. Everything seemed to be fine at first then it went dark, played around with the picture settings and so far upping the backlight setting seems to have solved that problem.

I'm just waiting for the HD channels to become available, looking at MySky account doesn't really help much so I'll wait till tomorrow to see how things are and when I've put things back into place I'll take a photo of the new set-up.

Excellent news Joan are all your channels working now? I look forward to seeing your new toy and Bill is on hand for any advice but I'm sure you will have it up and running properly. :D

The set comes with Eco Sensor turned on. You adjusting the backlight should have turned it off.

MENU> System> Eco Solution

It controls the brightness based on light levels. Enjoy! :D
