Busy few days for me this week, Monday I had my eyes tested, just have to wait for the new ones to be ready now.

What you're getting new eyes? How long do they take? 🤔

How's the office looking or dare I ask? I managed to get a few accounts bits done, but my in-tray is breeding as we speak.

I like Mark the Sky man he sounds like a good egg. I'm glad you're up and running now, and you've got a deal in the process so win-win!

Today I put up the two out three of the daughters coming over, Shelly the grand kid
Is currently playing with Tigger the cat ( the only one he will play with)
number two (Alice) is cooking.
Number one (Mary) is aggravating me trying to play my witch of a violin and finding
out how touchy a 90 year old violin can be 😊
Number 3 (jenny) is still playing exchange student in Newcastle so I wont see her
till Christmas

Hi Thomasreg1

That's lovely that your daughters came over for a visit. Did Alice make anything nice? How many grandchildren do you have? Is Jenny in Newcastle, England?

My old job is so specific as to not exist most everywhere. The few places it does exist (extended warranty company) doesn't currently have openings, so I am almost assuredly changing careers. I hate sitting in an office (home is ok), so looking at something relatively outside that will keep me busy from clock in to clock out (I hate to not be busy).

I can make good money, and I don't sweat how many hours it takes as I've been doing 10.5-12 for so long. Have a couple of nibbles now, if they pan out, will likely take one

A Guy

I know you're a hard worker, Bill, so I'm sure your talents will be snapped up. As long as you have an idea of what you're looking for, I'm sure something will come up. Do you have any buddies that work in fields that you're interested in that could put in a good word for you anywhere?

Lol! You and your pets. Do you feed John, or does he have to fend for himself? 😂

@thomaseg1 Aww bless, how nice a grandchild who's five, they are so full of wonder at that age! So what did you have with the lamb chops? Mashed potatoes, roast potatoes veggies, gravy? I love a roast dinner, I made one on Tuesday, but we had chicken with it. This was mine.

So what's Jenny studying?

Just peas and cheese stuffed potatoes. Velveta cheese works best.

J is in High school but she's a going science buff.

I do feed him, the only day I don't is a Saturday and if you want to eat you feed yourself, been like that for years. 😂

Love the look of your dinner Angie, much too much for me though I can't eat a decent sized meal these days. :anguished:

Hmm, sounds fabulous! J is going to be a science buff, how cool is that, does she have long left to study?

Lol! I am trying to fill in my meal planner to give them an idea of what they're getting for tea. Our local butchers have shut down so we've had to go a little further to a farm shop to get our meat and it's delicious. Succulent is the best way I can describe it.

The roast was lovely, and it's ages since I've had any veggies, but with the cold weather drawing in we're back on hot teas for a change. I did the roasties, but I didn't have any butter spray, so I used sunflower spray instead, which made them crispier than I like.

Workwise I've managed to plough through my in-tray, so that's looking much healthier. Now all I have to do is get through the post-its that are stuck all around the desk!

I'm so glad I'm retired. 😂 There aren't enough hours in the day as it is, mind you that could be because I'm a lot slower doing stuff now. :D

I don't have to worry about meat, John is not a meat eater as such, he's not a vegi but just didn't grow up eating much of it. The only meat he will eat is chicken. When the kids were at home I'd buy meat just for us.

My meal planner is the calendar in the kitchen, which is filled out for the month, it also covers when the rubbish and which rubbish goes out each week and which veg the pigs get on a particular day. :)

I know! I'm sure there should be around 30 instead of 24!

We like meat, so it's good to have a variety we eat gammon, steak, chicken etc. as I don't like the same things and like to vary the meals we have. Han doodles on my planner most of the time and then I realise days later! 😂

I sometimes change my mind on teas, so the meal planner is like a wipe board and easily amended, I could never put it on my calendar; there would be too much crossing out. Do you have an Amazon Alexa? The reason I ask is that there is an app on it that syncs with your local council and if you ask her she will tell you what bin to put out. Now I've mastered what to ask her (I usually forget the specific words I have to use :eyeroll:) she tells me what bins to put out, so I don't have to check my board.

Aww, bless you, so the pigs also get a variety of veg on different days. They have it good don't they!

I usually make soups and casseroles at this time of year, but at the minute I don't fancy them at all. Our spicy chicken soup is lovely, but I think I need a bit more stodge at the minute.

Speaking of which we've just bought our first pack of mince pies. :)

I like all types of meat, but it's just not worth the effort or expense buying it just for me plus the extra cooking time needed to do 2 different meals.

I get emails from the council for when the rubbish and what bins are going out each week, which will change at the beginning of November when the new system comes into effect, they aren't altering what can be recycled just the way they do and instead of them getting paid to collect and sort the rubbish we have to sort it all out and put it into separate containers so they just collect it. 🙄

I don't have an echo, Kelly does, but I think I can use Alexa through my Kindle Fire but I just never think to use it.

Did you eat those mince pies or put them away? I miss being able to make my own, which I did every year, I made them with shortcrust pastry and it was always light and crumbly if I do say so myself. :)

That's fair enough if you're not eating loads then it does seem a bit pointless.

No way do the council send you emails; I didn't know they did that. You have small containers don't you rather than bins to separate your recycling? I didn't know you could use Alexa through Kindle Fire either. Blimey, I am learning a lot today.

Put them away, in this house, you're joking, aren't you? We never keep or save anything. John was going to have a mince pie slice before because he thought they were wrapped in packs of two like the other Mr Kipling cakes, but they're not, so he left them.

I think I'll have a proper mince pie with a brew in the coming days. I do love making a batch myself with shortcrust pastry and love them when they are slightly warm, but because they are so easily accessible and we tend to go through loads, we buy them.

So today the weather is rubbish, I'm still trying to work out what we're making for tea, and I'm currently listening to Han's coat clank around in my dryer!

It's been mainly dry and sunny today here although I'm just watching the forecast on Countryfile and we're supposed to be in for some rain tomorrow, I shall wait and see.

Like you I used to like the mince pies I made myself after they'd come out of the oven, after cooling down for a bit.

I don't know about other councils but yes you can sign up to notified about your rubbish days, either via text if they have your mobile number or email. I have an online account with my local council so I can pay my council tax each month plus get other services, like reporting a missed rubbish collection or a broken street light etc.

Dry today here too, although there's lots of noise due to workers nearby. We had a mince pie with a cup of tea, but it was very doughy. You never know at this rate I may end up doing a batch myself. 👩‍🍳

Been busy with the accounts and getting all the paperwork in order. Now to sort out Han's kit after she's been doing cross country in a brand new pair of trainers! :eyeroll:

Then off to make tea, ooh I never stop. 🏃‍♀️

I've usually liked Tesco mince pies when I had to start buying them, I'd tried a few different makes.

I'd been checking accounts today, mind you my accounts are probably a lot easier than yours, I'll be checking in at the bank again tomorrow and bringing my cashbook up to date.

It's been dry here but very overcast with lots of grey clouds but not actually turning into rain. 🙄

Since we changed accounting systems, it's been fab, because I get them done much quicker, which leaves me more time to work on my site. Saying that I haven't got much done today as I've been in and out all day. 😂

I popped to the dentist this morning, and as I was coming out, I noticed an elderly gentleman waiting down the road ahead of me near a lamppost. I assumed he was waiting for somebody and as I passed he spoke and wished me a good morning as in turn so did I. Then when I reached the road ahead before crossing I looked over my shoulder to see if a car was coming and noticed that the elderly gentleman had carried on up the path. I then realised that he had stopped and waited for me to pass so that we wouldn't bump into each other. I thought what a lovely gesture. 😍

They really don't make them like they used too. Made me smile. 😊

Well the Daughters are off , One back to California the other to Virginia.
Took them out to a Seafood restaurant Where they could get some King Crab.
And I could get some Calamari. True to form Shelly ( either because her Dad
say she wouldn't like it or because I did :) ) She tried some and liked it.
Of course her Mom just said the She was half goat and would eat anything.

How long before you see them again?

I don't seem to have got as much done today as I wanted, although I did sort out one problem and will be able to save myself some money each month.

Done some more accounts so I'm up to date again.

My neighbour bought over a nice bunch of Dandelion leaves she'd just pulled up, the pigs will love them.

That's nice that you've even got the neighbours looking out for the pigs too.

We had a fox in the back garden the other day; I think it was hunting around for some food. I won't go out near the bin at night now just in case it's lurking near the bin shed.

Back in the office today although still feeling slightly under the weather.

He looks in good condition Angie, our fox was round the other night as well but of course there are biscuits outside the kitchen door for our visitors and he's like the badger and just steps back for a second when he sees you look out the door then comes back to eat again.

My neighbour sadly will be gone at the weekend, she's found somewhere else to rent for the time being as Amy, the owner, just wants to get the place sold now so that's a problem solved for her, she doesn't need the hassle at her age, she's in her late 80s.

I'll miss her and Poppy her cat, my 2 cats will miss Poppy as well, they have been very well behaved while she's been around. She's a very old lady, she's 22.

Not been in my office today gave the accounts a rest. Hope you get better soon Angie. :loveit:
