After flicking through the paper today, I discovered this weird and wonderful article about life like gruesome cakes like this! The lady who creates these fabulous creations of the human body is called Katherine Dey, and to be honest, she has a massive talent for it. They may not be to everyone's taste, but you cannot deny that this lady has serious skills and a definite eye for detail. So if you're ever in need for a grotesque, gruesome Halloween surprise or a birthday cake with a difference then look no further as this is your girl! The only pre-requisite is that you have a strong stomach to be able to handle her designs as she really does take gruesome to another level. Here are some of her weird and wonderful albeit eerie...
We may be looking to go to this bad boy this year! :D After going to the Cake and Bake show for the last few years Jules and I have decided to hopefully make the trip to Birmingham this year to see all the fabulous things going on at Cake International. We are a bit last minute on this and need to sort out some tickets and transport but I'm hoping if we pull our finger out we can get sorted. Wish us luck and I'll keep you posted!
Well, today Jules and I have had much fun at the Cake and Bake Show again at Event City, there have been lots of amazing cake creations, yummy stalls, fab lessons to learn and many cake goods to see so we've been making the most of the cake fest! I have taken lots of photos, met some lovely people, and learned a few things today. I'm currently going through my photos and once sorted; I'll then post all of the wonderful things that we have experienced throughout the day. Here are pics of Jules and me to start you off with! Lol! ;) The first thing you see when you walk in the door is this magnificent creation of the BFG. The detail that has gone into making his face is truly astounding and what I failed to notice due to being in...
We would like to wish our lovely Queen Elizabeth II a very Happy 90th Birthday! I must say her Majesty looks fabulous for 90 years of age and we wish her many more celebrations to come. Speaking of celebrations, not only did Nadiya win last years Great British Bake Off but this year she had the great honour of being asked to make the Queen's birthday cake. How fabulous is that! Here is the video of the Queen receiving and cutting into her three-tier orange drizzle cake while the spectators sing her Happy Birthday. Queen Elizabeth II birthday cake from Nadiya... [embed]

So whether you buy it, drink it, make it or indulge in it just be sure to enjoy it! Happy World Chocolate Day!

Whoop, whoop, yes me and Linda were off again to the lovely Slattery's for a nosey at all the masterpieces they have on show and for a birthday/working lunch for me. Once we managed to find a parking space (which is somewhere where we shouldn't have technically parked but hey ho), we made our way to the window of the Cake shop. There to greet us were these lovely creations displayed in the window. As the weather was a little cold, we made our way inside to the next display; here, we found an array of designs to suit all requirements. Firstly was this cat in a basket, I cannot believe how lifelike the cat is, it's happily snuggled up in the basket. Next were your simple and effective birthday cakes, just showing small amounts...
Yes, that's right; it's Shrove Tuesday so Happy Pancake Day people! In light of it being Pancake Celebrations today, we have been having a little fun with them. This morning I made Hannah pancakes for breakfast, well I say made, she had her American style pancakes that the lovely people at Kingsmill had made. ;) I'm not a lover of pancakes although I do LOVE the American style ones! As she enjoyed her breakfast, she advised me that today would be pancake day of epic proportions as not only was she going to have them for breakfast, she would no doubt have them for dinner too as her school tends to make them on pancake day. Then John advised that he would be making pancakes later with her after school! So pancakes, pancakes...
So as we venture further into social media I always like to do a new thread saying where else we can be found. Well, this time we have branched out and finally entered youtube! I'm quite excited by this prospect and will hopefully be whipping up more vids in next to no time, but for now, here's one I prepared earlier! :p Help Me Bake
So Jules and I had a lovely time at the Cake and Bake Show, it was smaller than last year and was being held along with the Ideal home show at Event City near the Trafford Centre. Barring the fact it took me absolutely ages to get there (the traffic was horrendous), we still managed to make the opening albeit some 20 minutes late. When we walked in the first thing Jules, and I saw was the Gruffalo storytelling area, so of course we stepped up and had a picture on the big chair! Thank you to the nice lady hostess who took our picture for us! :D We then noticed the array of fabulous cakes on display, so we headed over to have a closer look. These are the professionals showing off their talents, and I must admit some...
Ah yes, lovelies, the festivities are upon us, and it's time to start the Christmas Baking! So what is Stir-up Sunday I hear you ask? Well, it's the last Sunday before Advent when all of us bakers get into the Christmas swing and start preparing to make our Christmas Cakes or Puddings. So take your little ones by the hand and create some pre-Christmas memories for years to come. They can pour, stir, mix and learn some lovely traditions along the way and if they're lucky enough they'll be the ones to make a wish! Enjoy and happy baking! Here is a Christmas Cake Recipe for you to try.
