Our Trip to The Cake and Bake Show - Event City Manchester November 2016 (1 Viewer)

Well, today Jules and I have had much fun at the Cake and Bake Show again at Event City, there have been lots of amazing cake creations, yummy stalls, fab lessons to learn and many cake goods to see so we've been making the most of the cake fest!

I have taken lots of photos, met some lovely people, and learned a few things today. I'm currently going through my photos and once sorted; I'll then post all of the wonderful things that we have experienced throughout the day.

Here are pics of Jules and me to start you off with! Lol!

The first thing you see when you walk in the door is this magnificent creation of the BFG. The detail that has gone into making his face is truly astounding and what I failed to notice due to being in awe of the creation was the actual finer detail and the reflection of cake in his eyes! What a truly remarkable show stopper and a great way to start the day!

Once we had entered the show and received our goody bag, we then headed off to all the competition cake submissions that were on display. Myths, legends and fairy tales was this years theme of choice.

This dragon and fairy-themed
cakes are extremely detailed; I love the way the fairy effortless hovers by the side of the tree trunk and how the mermaids are intertwined with seabed it's fantastic.

Here are the fairy tale inspired cakes and cupcakes that take us down memory lane back to wonderful childhood memories.

I love this next one as each tier tells a story, the carriage is absolutely beautiful, and I adore Little Red Riding Hood.

These are some more of the taller cakes and cupcakes in the fairy tale and myth section. The thing that I really like is that all the cakes are completely different from each other and they have their own take on the theme. Some are very intricate, while others are bursting with fun!

 

[Angie]

These are more of the intricately designed cakes and have a real life-like quality to them. My favourite out of these has to be Ludo from Labyrinth; he's so realistic you just want to pick him up and snuggle him.

There is a serious amount of detail going on with these Dragons, even down to their teeth! If you make the second dragon picture bigger, you will see there is a teeny tiny person right in front of the dragon.

These are the final few of the competition entry cakes at the Cake and Bake Show, my clear favourite over all the cakes today has to be the Trolls cake, it is bright, funny, characteristic and a real show stopper, this is definitely my kind of cake!

I like the detail of this Christmas themed Snowman birthday cake, the roof tiles look very realistic, and I really enjoyed the fact that it lit up inside, it must be my inner child being unleashed!

This is a smaller version of the BFG; however, it still has a wonderful impact; it's simple but effective. His camouflage patchwork pants are cool too!

Here are the Cake and Bake Show's celebration of 150 years of Beatrix Potter. With the help of The Sugar Chronicles and their fabulous talents, they created a beautiful garden with all your favourite Beatrix Potter characters.

Everything in the garden is edible!

Now, how's that for talent!

 

[Joan]

What a fantastic collection of cakes Angie, I wouldn't even know where to start. Trouble is they are so good you wouldn't want to destroy them by eating them. :doh:

 

[Angie]

I've not finished them yet Joan as there are still a 21st century Santa with his oodles of tattoos and piercings and some of the other fun Christmas themed cakes too!

 

[Joan]

Ooh! can't wait, it sounds fantastic.

 

[Angie]

Here are the tiered model cakes that were on display at the show. I love the intricacy of the henna design on the last cake; it's beautiful and very rich in colour.

I adore these Santa cakes, the first one for the humour of it, the second one for the amount of detail and artistry gone into it and the third one because I'm a massive minions fan. They are all equally brilliant!

This is definitely a Christmas take on a Merry go round! Fabulous!

I'm not quite sure if these were Frozen themed cakes or Wedding cakes, however, either way, they are equally beautiful and definite show stoppers!

They are so gorgeous you feel as if you can't possibly cut into them and ruin the design. I love the look of them. :thumbs:
