Glad to see things are coming together, wish we had smelly vision I'd love to have the smell of cake.
I know you'd think in this day and age, with all our technology we'd have it.
So my plans of decorating the cake today went a bit wrong! I discovered yesterday that I had the wrong coloured icing fondant, so I had to overnight the right colour for today. The only problem with that is that it came much later than when I wanted it, so I could only decorate half the cake.
The other faff was working out this morning that the cake boards I had were too small to house Han's wand that she made for the cake. The only saving grace I had for that was a large pink cake board that I managed to cover. (Han doesn't do pink and it doesn't go with my theme). Ideally, I should have covered it first rather than piecing it together, but I got there in the end!
Then to add insult to injury, I thought I'd edge the board in ribbon once it was covered; the only problem with that is that I had a ribbon too large and one too small to edge it, so I had to order that today for today! Then just to add to the dilemmas when I dusted my sorting hat with the black lustre dust I'd recently ordered, it was a little more of a grey tint than a black tint, and it sparkles...it's supposed to look mean!
So at the minute, we have a two-tier cake that's covered with half a design, and I'm currently in negotiations with Han to amend the original design.
She has to be my most particular client (most people give me free rein), but in all fairness when I do them the way she wants they turn out really great. So I'm not quite sure how this cake will turn out, but I do know that my sorting hat fits the top tier, and when I add some of the other decorations, it looks good. So here's hoping tomorrow's decorations work out!
I'm going to need a sit down when this one's done!
As for her age, she'll be 16, although she acts like she's 21!
