I made this cake for Elaine on her 70th birthday as it was a recreation of a cake she had been given on her 7th birthday. She chose the mint green and claret pink flowers and piping pattern and requested that the cake be Madeira with a buttercream and jam filling. This is not a colour scheme I would have opted for personally but I did as she asked and she absolutely loved it! The story behind the cake is she received a big bright garish cake for her 7th birthday on the ships, one of the ladies on the ship made it for her and her mother didn't like the colours. Elaine on the other hand loved the cake so much as a 7-year-old she asked me to recreate it for her 70th! Also, see the additional 70th birthday cake I made her.
