Well, I decided to take the plunge, and I've made both tiers today so that I can level, fill and cover them tomorrow. They're currently cooling as we speak. The kitchen smells fabulous! 👩‍🍳

Glad to see things are coming together, wish we had smelly vision I'd love to have the smell of cake. 🎂

I know you'd think in this day and age, with all our technology we'd have it. 😍

So my plans of decorating the cake today went a bit wrong! I discovered yesterday that I had the wrong coloured icing fondant, so I had to overnight the right colour for today. The only problem with that is that it came much later than when I wanted it, so I could only decorate half the cake. 🤔

The other faff was working out this morning that the cake boards I had were too small to house Han's wand that she made for the cake. The only saving grace I had for that was a large pink cake board that I managed to cover. (Han doesn't do pink and it doesn't go with my theme). Ideally, I should have covered it first rather than piecing it together, but I got there in the end! :eyeroll:Then to add insult to injury, I thought I'd edge the board in ribbon once it was covered; the only problem with that is that I had a ribbon too large and one too small to edge it, so I had to order that today for today! Then just to add to the dilemmas when I dusted my sorting hat with the black lustre dust I'd recently ordered, it was a little more of a grey tint than a black tint, and it sparkles...it's supposed to look mean! 🤣

So at the minute, we have a two-tier cake that's covered with half a design, and I'm currently in negotiations with Han to amend the original design. 🤣 She has to be my most particular client (most people give me free rein), but in all fairness when I do them the way she wants they turn out really great. So I'm not quite sure how this cake will turn out, but I do know that my sorting hat fits the top tier, and when I add some of the other decorations, it looks good. So here's hoping tomorrow's decorations work out!

I'm going to need a sit down when this one's done! 🎂

As for her age, she'll be 16, although she acts like she's 21!

Wow! where are the years going, I remember when you told us she was now a teenager, that was only a few months ago wasn't it. :scream:

Lol! I know, and then you blink! 😆

So I finally finished the cake today, the new ribbons I bought didn't fit, and I had to go on the hunt for some Pritt stick, but other than that, it's finished. 🤪 I'm putting my feet up now for a well-earned break, so the pictures will follow when I get the chance. 🤓

I'm looking forward to seeing them. 🤗

I don't know about blinking, I can't quite believe that it's just over a month and it will be a year since John's death. 😢

Wow! I cannot believe it's been nearly a year already! Big hugs to you! 😘 Will you be seeing the family around the time of the anniversary?

I'm catching up on rest now and washing, which is apparently what I've been slacking on! I've taken some more pictures of the cake today, so hopefully, I can get the perfect shot to post. 📷

It depends on Peter's shifts but if they come on the Tuesday as normal it will be the day after. Kelly is doing a 62 mile walk during October with her puppy and she is aiming to finish on the anniversary day. It is in aid of Cancer Research. :)
Thank you for the hug Bill, I appreciate it. 🤗

Ooh, no doubt if they can't see you in person, they'll ring you on the day, but if not, at least you know they will be there the day after.

Sixty-two miles blimey, with a puppy as well, what puppy does she have? That's great that she's doing it for Cancer research. I take it she's in training for it at the minute? She's going to need some good trainers for that!

Whilst I remember, how are you getting on with the donating and chuck out?

I won't be seeing them this week, she has a cold and doesn't want to pass it on to me, we have been in touch a few times though. I had my appointment to write my will today, well I've started the process just waiting to see the draft and when that's been checked I'll get the actual will which I just need to sign and get witnessed, I've already got the people ready to be the witnesses.

The walk won't be too bad as she will do just over 2 miles a day, she has the whole of October to achieve the distance. She has a Springer Spaniel, he's about 5 months old.

I managed to get rid of some more stuff to the Air Ambulance charity shop, it's now trying to find local charities that can come here and collect. Some are not taking any donations at the moment as they are losing their storage spaces so don't have room for any more yet.

I'll probably be able to put some on Freecycle and get rid of a bit that way, you know what people are like getting something for nothing. 😂

Ah right, I thought she was doing it in one go!

Oh go you being all proactive, that's really sensible and hopefully, something else you can cross off your ever-changing list of things to do. It always makes me laugh when you have to get stuff witnessed and especially when we had to do it during lockdown it was like are you kidding me?! 🤣

I have a few bags of clothes that need to be given to charity, they keep looking at me but I've not had time to move them yet. Speaking of clearing out have you seen that new program with Nick Knowles? The Big House Clearout, every time I see it I think I need to detox the house again!

Yes, I have that program on record the series, I can't remember the name at the moment but there is another program on the telly that involves 2 blokes clearing out hoarder's homes. I'll see if I can find the title and let you know.

I don't have to worry about getting rid of clothing, I don't have enough to get rid of any. I live in lounge suits, I wear T-Shirts in summer and jumpers in winter with them. It's the same with shoes, I wear slippers most of the time but have 2 pairs of sandals for summer and a pair of shoes for winter and that's it. :D

Just found that program Angie, it was on tonight at 8.00 pm on 5Star, Filthy House SOS.

Just watched Bake Off and the opening was hilarious, nice to see the squirrel is still there. 🤣

I have a variety of clothing depending on the season but tend to stick with what's comfy when I'm working at home. If I go out I make an effort and dress up in 'grown up' clothes as my friend likes to call them. 😂

After speaking with you about the clothing donations we finally got rid of them yesterday whoop whoop!

I think I've heard of the programme you mentioned but never watched it.

Lol! Bill, you've got to watch it; the squirrel is the star of the show. It simply wouldn't be Bake Off without him!

I'm catching up on invoicing today; Han's full of a cold, so I'm currently on Florence duties, steaming olbas and sorting out the wheat bag. I have managed to sort out this week's tea planner, though. So all in all, quite productive.

I hope you guys are doing okay.

OK here, had a very nice young man around today, he was doing a survey to find eligible people to have loft insulations done under a government scheme, part of that insulating homes. The landlord wasn't available at the time to ask him about it but he came back a bit later to say he'd spoken to his wife and was sure he'd be agreeable to having it done.

At present my loft has very thick fibreglass insulation but apparently this would be changed to something better and not as damaging as there at the moment. It will be done next month if the landlord gives his permission, I'm sure he will.
