A range of tiered and carved cakes that I have made.
Here is the Frozen Cake that I have been working on. It is a chocolate top tier filled with chocolate fudge icing, and the base is a Madeira cake filled with jam and buttercream. The turrets and towers were part of the Wilton Castle Cake Set and the Frozen Figures I bought from Disney. The snow on the top is just white icing, and blue crystals are edible sugar crystals. I dyed white icing sugarflair baby blue for the castle. Here is a mini-breakdown on how I did some of the decorations: Frozen Castle Cake Preview Beauty and the Beast Peppa Pig Cake Showcase How to cover a cake using Icing or Marzipan Tutorials Easy Cupcake Toppers Gifts and Sweet Treats
This is the Aero bubbles gravity-defying cake that I have been working on today; it is a chocolate cake covered in chocolate fudge icing, then surround by fingers and then topped with Aero Bubbles. To make the 'gravity-defying' bit simply insert a dowel or thick straw at an angle into the cake, put some melted chocolate on it and then stick your aero bubbles to it in stages, you will need three to four at a time and start building them up in like a pyramid shape. Ensure your chocolate is set; otherwise, they will fall off which a few of mine did but don't worry, you can taste test those ones later! Continue this process allowing your chocolate to dry each time until you reach you required height. I then wrapped cotton wool balls in...
This edible ballerina girl figure and birthday tea party cake were made for my daughter's birthday; she even assisted a little by making the candle cake and the edible present at the base of the cake and drawing me a rough sketch beforehand. All the cakes, doughnuts, biscuits and plates are edible along with the model itself—a fun party cake to be enjoyed. I taught my students how to make different variations of this shirt cake at my Class at Salford College. This is a small 6-inch Madeira cake, filled with strawberry jam, covered with white icing fondant. The collar was made with an additional strip of icing/fondant, a PME wheeler was used to create the stitching effect, and tylo powder was added as a hardening agent. The tie was made in two parts with black icing/fondant. The large flap of the tie was cut freehand, and then the knot of the tie was moulded around the collar using a blob of black icing and my fingers to mould into shape. A Tangled Rapunzel Cake - The character figures were bought from Amazon, and the extended hair is made from icing fondant, using egg yellow, tangerine and brown sugarflair dye. The flowers are edible and were made using plunge cutters, and I dyed the buttercream party green to match the cake colour and piped on the stems of the flowers. This chocolate cake was a request from one of my friends for her birthday; it is a chocolate cake covered in chocolate ganache, surrounded by Rossini curls and then segmenting the top. The wheel parts were then filled with edible chocolate sprinkles, 100s and 100s, popping candy and white sugar crystals. The centrepiece is a Ferrero rocher, and then I completed the cake with a ribbon to hold everything in place.
