A range of tiered and carved cakes that I have made.
This is a 2 tier fruit cake that has been covered in marzipan and then covered in Renshaws white and poppy red decor icing. The board has been crimped and covered with a ribbon. The base tier has been quilted using a Cake Boss Quilting Imprint mat, I then went over the quilting design with a PME Design Wheel and then impressed the points with an umbrella tool and then pushed in the white sugar balls. The top tier has a fondant border on the base in red and then is covered in small hearts that I made using plunge cutters. I then topped the cake with a sparkling 60 cake topper for the final effect. Here is the other of the Christmas Cakes I made albeit this was my Husband's request. I turned the domed Christmas cake into an igloo, covered it in marzipan and then covered the igloo and board in white icing fondant. I made the penguins using white, black and orange icing fondant, added the snowman and tree for decorations and cut out the sprigs of holly using a cutter. I rolled the berries and snowballs myself using red icing and white icing. I then finished it off by making Santa's hat for the top of the igloo. 2D Penguin Christmas Cake Penguin Family Christmas Cake Cake Showcase How to cover a cake using Icing or Marzipan Tutorials Easy Cupcake Toppers Gifts and Sweet Treats
This was one of the Christmas cakes I made over the festive period and turned it into a pudding; the base is a Christmas cake that I baked in a rounded bowl to get the pudding shape. It was then covered with white icing fondant, red Renshaw Decor Ice for the berries and Lincoln Green Renshaw Icing for the holly leaves. To help raise the leaves, I placed cling film (saran wrap) under the leaves whilst they dried, so they dried in a raised position. I then indented the white icing with a Broderie Anglaise eyelet cutter. Snowman Snowflake Cake Father Christmas and Presents Cake Knitted Rudolph Cake Gingerbread Candy Cane Cake Igloo Penguin Cake
Here was my festive Chocolate Log that I made for my daughter over the Christmas holidays. It is a swiss roll chocolate cake covered in chocolate buttercream and lightly dusted with icing sugar. As chocolate logs get devoured extremely quickly I tend to use festive plastic decorations that can be re-used, the only thing I was missing this year was the 'Merry Christmas' sign. This is the racing car I recently made for my daughter's birthday. The cake is made from Madeira so that it was easier to carve into shape. I then covered the cake in Renshaws poppy red, black, grey, yellow and lincoln green icing. I pre-dyed the flesh colour for the face using paprika sugarflair dye, and the scarf is made using white icing that was dyed using Wilton's ivory coloured dye. The pig and pug on the cake were pre-made by my daughter, and she requested they be put onto the cake. The registration plate was hand-painted using extra black sugarflair dye. This two-tier My Little Pony Cake is what I have made for my God-daughters birthday. It comprises of two Madeira cakes filled with buttercream and strawberry jam. It has then been covered in party green icing fondant. The waterfall is baby blue in colour, and the flowers are tangerine, lemon, grape and Christmas red. The My Little Ponies were purchased from Amazon. The butterflies were cut out using my butterfly plunge cutter, and the name Lois was made using my Martha Stewart silicone mold, or in the UK we say silicon mould. All the dyes used are Sugar Flair Dyes. Cake Showcase How to cover a cake using Icing or Marzipan Tutorials Easy Cupcake Toppers Gifts and Sweet Treats
Here is the Graffiti splatter cake that I made for my daughter's 10th birthday as per her request. I have made a 7, 6 and 4-inch Madeira cake filled it with jam and covered it using Renshaws Black Icing. For the edible paint, I used Rainbow Dust 'Paint It' Orange, Blue, Yellow, Pink and Green paints and then also the Silver Metallic Paint from the Rainbow Dust collection. To make the splatter effect, I dipped the paintbrushes into the paint and then flicked the brushes all around the cake, creating the pattern. The candles were stores bought and flicked with the metallic paints to continue with the Graffiti splatter theme. My daughter thinks her cake is Epic! Here is the second cake that I made for Elaine for her birthday, which brought the colours from her mint green and pink claret rose cake into the 21st century. This was the cake I designed for her 70th birthday party cake using the colour scheme she had requested for her recreated pink and green birthday cake she had received as a 7-year-old. Needless to say, she was exceptionally thrilled with the surprise of two cakes and loved them both equally. I made this cake for Elaine on her 70th birthday as it was a recreation of a cake she had been given on her 7th birthday. She chose the mint green and claret pink flowers and piping pattern and requested that the cake be Madeira with a buttercream and jam filling. This is not a colour scheme I would have opted for personally but I did as she asked and she absolutely loved it! The story behind the cake is she received a big bright garish cake for her 7th birthday on the ships, one of the ladies on the ship made it for her and her mother didn't like the colours. Elaine on the other hand loved the cake so much as a 7-year-old she asked me to recreate it for her 70th! Also, see the additional 70th birthday cake I made her. Cake...
