A range of tiered and carved cakes that I have made.
Ben 10 saves the day and this fabulous Ben 10 birthday cake will do just the job to brighten up any little boys birthday. This is an 8-inch Madeira cake covered in pre-dyed party green icing, the black icing is Renshaws, and the characters were bought from the internet. I made the cityscape using black icing and then piped on the windows. The Ben 10 picture on the front is a cupcake topper that was stuck using edible glue and the black, white, and yellow circles were made with circle push cutters.
This is a 10-inch Madeira cake that was covered in both icing and marzipan. The flowers were cut out using blossom cutters, and the butterflies were made using push cutters. The tiara was washed before being placed on the cake and an additional layer of icing was placed on the top so that the tiara did not indent the actual cake. The feathers were inserted into a posy pick and then into the cake. The plaque was purchased off the internet.
Peppa's party surprise. This cake is made up of two 10" Madeira square cakes which have been carved out to make the shape of Peppa Pig. It contains buttercream and jam and is covered in fondant icing and then I outlined the cake with extra fondant icing just for extra definition.
This is a 6-inch victoria sponge cake filled with buttercream and jam; it was then along with the board covered in icing fondant and the edges crimped. The flowers were made using a small blossom cutter and were filled with the extra buttercream. The roses were hand made and then stuck on using the buttercream. The blossom flowers were made into a cascading effect and then wrapped around the cake.
Catapulted to life! This Angry Birds Cake is made up of two halves of Madeira cake which were carved in order to fit together. The cake was then filled with buttercream and jam and then covered in red icing fondant. The face and additional features were stuck on using a little water. The board is covered in green icing fondant and the remaining base has been piped with grass using a #233 grass nozzle.
This was the cake I made for my friend's little boy. It is a sponge cake filled with jam and buttercream and then covered with icing. I then indented the icing with a shell tool to create the border on the board. To make the blue and white border surrounding the cake, I rolled up small balls of icing and squashed them up against the edges of the cake. The name was cut out using letter cutters, and the baby was made using a face mould and then drawn on using an edible pen.
Here is the delightful Princess castle Cake that I recently made. The cake is a Madeira sponge covered in buttercream and icing. The heart shapes are shop-bought decorations, and the Princesses in the windows were made from cupcake rice paper toppers. The flowers on the side were piped with buttercream that was dyed, and the 100s and 1000s were an added decoration. The turrets were made using ice cream cones, white chocolate for sticking and 100s and 1000s.
This sponge cake is covered in white icing and then covered in yellow strips that were cut using a Jem strip cutter. The daffodils were made and wired together with the feathers to create the topper. A posy pick was inserted before the flowers were inserted into the cake.
A Madeira Builder's cake covered with edible building decorations such as block pavings, a lump hammer, Travis Perkins Sand Bag, a Concrete Mixer, stones, buckets and brown sugar for the sand. This was made for my Dad for his 21 years in business in Feb 2011.
