Cake Decorating Easter Cupcakes - Worsley College - Student Creations (1 Viewer)

I've had a lovely time meeting the new bunch of ladies on Linda's Bread Making and Cake Making course. Linda has drafted me in to show the ladies my level fill and cover demonstration that will allow them to stack cakes and also to show them some Easter Cupcake designs.

On the first evening, we did a level fill and cover, and I showed the ladies how to level the cake using a cake leveller. They were happy to know this as many of them weren't actually sure how to use them. I explained the uses of them and a few helpful hints that would make covering their cakes much easier.

One of the ladies asked me to show her how to do some Garrett frills as she was making a 30th cake for her friend and had seen a design in her book. Collette, Alison and Laura we happy just covering the cakes and cutting out some shapes and flowers for decoration. I showed them a few ways of enhancing their designs using embossed rollers.

Cath and Sue were busy with their baking designs, Cath was making an aeroplane for her son, and Sue was playing about with some shapes and designs. It was lovely getting to meet them and see what creations they could come up with.

Here are the results......

Well after a wonderful time with Linda and afternoon tea at The Lowry Hotel I am now back on guest slot no 2. Today we are looking at Easter cupcake designs. :)

I have brought some cupcake designs to show the class; I can't say ladies as Ian has now joined us too, he's lovely and the first man other than my dad that I have taught. :D

As well as doing my original demo I'm now demoing on my feet as Cath and Sue have brought some mini models that they got at the Cake International show, and Collette really likes the dog design. I ask her if she would like me to show her how it's made and she says yes. I don't have brown icing, but I do have pink and white, so we make the model out of that. I also show them how to make some, bunnies and a chick, how to use the grass nozzle and some very quick grass and egg designs using buttercream.

It's a great lesson, and I think I have managed to give everybody some ideas and skills on how to dye icing and recreate the designs at home. Alison, unfortunately, missed most of the lesson as she was at parents evening but she popped by for a quick demo at the end.

They are a lovely bunch to teach, and I look forward to seeing them again on the next course if they manage to get on. Here are there creations.
