I am so disappointed I am 76yrs and bought a Cadburys cake mix. Followed all instructions and placed it in a 160 fan oven for 20 mins came out uncooked? What went wrong please?
I'm sorry to hear that about your cake, but be rest assured things like that have happened to the best of us.
I've just read the instructions of the box mix and it does say to split the mix into 2 tins, I'm not sure if you've done this but if you placed it into one tin then that may be a reason why the cake was uncooked.
However, if you baked it in two tins as per the instructions it may have needed to be baked at a slightly higher temperature or for longer. When I bake my chocolate sandwich cake or a victoria sandwich cake I always bake it in two tins at about 170°C and only bake my deeper cakes at a lower temperature like 150/160°C.
This chocolate cake is probably one of the nicest I've ever made. It's super moist, has an irresistible lightness and fluffiness to it, and has so much fibre-y goodness that it even persuaded my husband to indulge in a second slice!
In keeping with my half-and-half technique, I've again combined wholemeal and white flour in this recipe. This blend not only offers a delightful indulgence but also infuses a touch of wholesome goodness into every bite.
It doesn't take long to make either, and you can even use a pre-made filling, so why not give it a go?
To make this...
I'm not sure how uncooked your cake was but another thing I always do is pre-warm my oven for ten minutes to ensure the oven is at the correct temperature. Every oven is different so they always run at a slightly different temp. I always use an oven thermometer in my oven when baking to ensure that the oven temp is also correct. (I once had an oven that was 15°C out hence the reason why I check).
I hope this helps you out and that you make a wonderful chocolate cake.
