Leaving cake (1 Viewer)

I made this cake for a colleague who was leaving to go and work as a kitchen gardener in a large hotel.
It was the first time that I had made such a cake and was really proud especially when asked where I had purchased it from and the reactions i received when I said that I had made it.

Thank you, I really enjoyed making it and Bob was thrilled. I set myself a challenge to come up with a cake themed to my colleagues likes or hobbies. So far I have made the following designs: camping with a tent and camp fire, a pond with a frog on a lily pad, a jig saw cake, spring flowers and a teddy bear cake for Alison who was leaving to have a baby girl. I thought you might like to see a couple of them. The cake with the spring flowers was the very first one I did, and I had never made flowers before.

Aww, thank you for sharing. We love seeing what other cakes/bakes people have done and finding out why they have made them. That's really kind that you go to all the trouble of making personal cakes for all your colleagues and theme them to their interests.

I love the ones you have done, and I like the different techniques you have used in each, from the marbling to the grass effect and the fur on the teddy bear. The pitch on the tent and the frying pan is fab too! It all adds to the character of the cake and shows that you are going the extra mile with little touches to make the cakes look more authentic.

You should be really proud of yourself.
