Here is a lovely Dalmatian design that I found in one of my books recently, and couldn't wait to recreate him. I made Spot using Renshaws white, black and Poppy red icing. His tongue was made from spare pink icing that I had, and the bone was made using the Teddy bear brown colour.
The dog itself was straightforward to make and was just a mixture of rolled-up shapes. I did the spots freehand and added the bone as a finishing touch using teddy bear brown coloured Renshaw icing and a veining tool. I made the red mat he's sitting on out of the Poppy red icing so that he has a little contrast and stands out a little.
The book that Spot the 'Dalmatian' was in is called 100 Fondant Animals for Cake Decorators and was created by Helen Penman.
