I'm a real baking newbie and have a problem. I'm trying to make brownies in a metal 9x16 pan but they come out raw in the middle. Should I reduce the temp and bake longer or what? Thx

Hi Pete and welcome. :D

When brownies are baked they will crack slightly on the top and be a little soft in the middle but not raw. You could try reducing your temp and cooking for a little longer or bake them a little longer at your current temp and keep checking on them with a metal skewer in the middle to see if they are done.

The depth of your tin will also add to your baking time, the deeper the tin the longer they take, if your tin is deep reduce the temp and cook for longer. If it is shallow try and cook your brownies for a little longer at the temp you are using. Make sure to bake them in the middle of the oven and always make sure you pre heat your oven before baking.

The brownie recipe I use takes about 30 mins to bake in the oven on 170 degrees which will be 338F.
