I am fascinated by mini cakes and was planning on creating them for a project but was a bit confused about them.
Is there any recipe on them, just simple ones that I would decorate? Would I just need to make them in the same way I would make an ordinary cake?
Mini cakes are just smaller versions of big cakes albeit they have been either cut (ie you have made a big Victoria sponge cake and cut using small round cutters) to make mini cakes or you have made individual small cakes using mini cake tins. Lakeland sell mini cake tins if you wish to have a look.
All you need to ensure is that you have the correct amount of ingredients for your required amount of cakes.
You could try making some mini Victoria Sponge cakes with a cream filling and a few strawberries then dusted with icing sugar as a starter so you can get used to the size, shape amount of filling etc.
That's what I thought, get used to handling the size and then that way you can progress onto covering once your happy with the baking and filling side of things.
