...back again, just a question, have you guys ever bought an audible book off Amazon?

The Lord of the rings complete, Its nice to listen to, when your bored

@thomaseg1 - how do you listen to it? Does it just get downloaded to your phone or kindle? Do you buy it through kindle?

@Joan - Ah so you listen to yours via Kindle.

The reason I ask is that I'm thinking of buying an audible book but have never done so, so wondered if you guys could enlighten me on the process. I fancy listening to one rather than reading one so wondered how you guys did it and what you think about them.

@A Guy - what no books, you not a fan? I used to read loads but haven't had the time of late. I fancy an audible book as a change from the TV as a bit of escapism.

Lat day of home-schooling today until half term. Whoop whoop!

Yes, I listened via my Kindle, I had to have an app on it that worked with the libraries format then I'd just put my headphones in to listen while still doing whatever I was doing at the time, usually reading emails or in the forums.

i believe there is a kindle app in the windows store. never used it though.
but its supposed to play or read them on your computer.
Under access abilities in windows there is also a text to speech app. So it can narrate
ebooks from text.

just for fun an older pic of me

When I was young, I read a ton of books, mostly science fiction...Azimov, Bradbury, etc. But since the internet, I just read news stories :)

I have to have books to read, I have several on my Kindle and the library keeps me supplied as well, not at present though so I've got 8 books here ready for them to collect when the service is up and running again after lockdown.
I read family sagas, life around the late 1800s and early 1900s mainly around the north of England, even though they are fiction I know there is a lot of truth in the stories and the hardship they had to live through.

Saturday was rough for me , my first Physical therapy since lockdown.
She's only opening to select clients 1 day a week (Saturdays).
She was brutal, added a half pound weight to my ankle for the exercises.
My leg was numb the rest of the day. Felt so lazy I resorted to Hot Pockets for dinner. 😕

Ouch! Hopefully, though you say it was brutal, it will be the best course to get you back to fitness. Good luck. 😘

I have seen, I think John tried it with either my book or my site, it was really good the way it read it out. I'll have a look for the app, do you think it will play on my phone?

Sorry to hear that you are struggling with your PT, I hope your leg gets better.

It's been lovely here today; the sun hasn't stopped shining!

Is your phone apple , android or windows?
There may be an app for them , not sure?

kindle - Google Play

kindle - Apple

Thanks, @thomaseg1 I have an android, I do have the kindle app on my phone because I read books, but I've never obviously used it audibly or looked up audiobooks on there.

I wouldn't mind I'm asking all this, and I haven't even got a specific book in mind to listen to yet, lol, I nearly said 'read' then. :D

Your Local Library should have a few books to try , Amazon has a few free ones occasionally.
a number of publishers do as well like Baen Books.

The library was where I got audible books from through their website. They usually have an app to download either on your computer or tablet. Not audio but I get some craft magazines from the library and they are downloaded to Zinio on my computers.

Wowsers, you have all the apps and the know-how you lot! :D I've not even managed to have a look proper on my phone yet.

I'm sure you'll soon get the hang of things Angie, plus you've always got John there to help you out or Hannah. 😀
