I work from home Joan, so I work around the school hours and try and pack in as much as I can while Han is out. When she's on school hols, I tend to juggle work around her or later at night when it gets quieter.

The only time I'm out at work is either at business meetings, teaching or doing workshops.

Today I'm still catching up on stuff, and I also need to return the author copies of my book that they have sent me twice now. I've put a few post-its and a funny note on the books so I'm hoping the nice person at Amazon will read it and they won't send them out to me again. :lmao: I'm also working through my BIG things to do list!

Did Kelly like the book?

I'll have to ask her, what with Christmas and the New Year not spoken to her much and they've been without a car till today as their's packed up. :eyeroll:

I've been busy today with my new phone, my contract on the iPhone 5s was finishing so decided to get another but this time I got the iPhone SE, which apparently is supposed to be just a little bit better than the 6.

I would have preferred a bigger screen one but needed to keep the monthly cost down which is why I went with this one as it's just a couple of £s per month than I was paying before, still under £20.

It was great to just sit there holding them both side by side and seeing the new one set up and my stuff put onto it, saved a lot of time. When the library man came I told him about it and he was quite impressed it could be done. I did say to him that all this technology was great when it all worked but the youngsters these days would be lost if they had to do things the old fashioned way, that's where us old ones would come into our own. :lmao:

It's a busy week this week, on Friday as well as my weekly grocery shop the electric company are coming to fit a smart meter and I got a phone call this afternoon from the council care and repair man to say he's coming tomorrow to do the step outside and fit the grab rail at the side of the door. :D

Whenever Joan, no rush.

Hope you enjoy playing with your phone. Since changing providers a while ago, I now seem to have problems just trying to save a new contact in mine let alone transferring anything over. I always get John to sort my tech out because it always seems to go wrong when I do it. You're the best of both worlds though because you're old school and tech savvy so you're sorted. :D

Did you get anything good from the library man?

I hope your online shop shows up.

Good luck with the smart meter, after seven attempts to try and fit the thing we have discovered that it hasn't been sending gas readings, so we have to send them manually at the minute. We've had a such a faff with ours I hope yours is plain sailing.

Today has been eventful too, first off to take Han to the doctors and then a trip to A&E! The joys of children! Doesn't she realise I have work to do?

I quite enjoy it when the library man comes as he knows the type of book I like to read and always manages to bring something for me that I'll enjoy reading, plus he's introducing me to new authors, although this week he brought one I'd already read so he had to go back out to the van and find something else. :)

At least we only have the one meter to worry about, the electric one, no gas in the village, we already have a key meter but this will mean we can top up online without having to travel to the next village to put money on the meter, I'll have to carry on later got to go and sort the food out for the birds and pigs and Willow is on my stand at the side of the laptop and she keeps getting in the way and making it difficult to type.

I am so frustrated, John had bought himself a ready meal from the Tesco in Pembroke Dock, King Prawn Tikka Masala with Pilau Rice. He had it tonight and enjoyed it so I thought I've got a shop coming tomorrow so I had to go into my account and check the list ready for the delivery and was going to add a couple of them to my order.

Could I find them, oh no, putting the name into the search said they couldn't find anything with that name and brought up pages with everything that mentioned prawns or rice. If I asked for Indian ready meals got a couple of pages but none of the one he bought.

Now if I went to Tesco without logging in I found them but as soon as I logged in and wanted to find them to add to my order they disappeared. :grrr:

I was doing that much going backwards and forwards searching through page after page it started to slow down the site and was taking up too much time so I got annoyed and signed out.

Anyway back to what we were talking about before I was interrupted. I prefer having a pre-pay meter as we like to pay for our electric as we use it so no surprise bills, plus being in rented accommodation it's the preferred method for landlords. We are allowed to change supplier but the meter has to stay.
I did talk to you about your A&E visit in another thread so don't need to here again. Anyway with all the faffing about trying to find Johns meal I'm trying to catch up with my other online stuff so have to say goodnight and see you all tomorrow. :D

Well, the meter has been changed and so far so good, although at present I can't top up online as it says I have too much credit.

I'll phone them tomorrow about that. They seem to think that everyone wants to put an app on their smartphones to pay for top-ups and keep a check on their account, sorry but not me. I have no need to pay while on the go, I don't go, :lmao: besides I won't have anything to do with payments on a phone. I keep all things to do with payments etc. on my main computer where I have tight security. :)

I know what you mean Bill, been having a conversation elsewhere about technology. I'd passed a remark to the library man about it was great when it worked but a lot of the current generation wouldn't have a clue what to do if it stopped working. :eyeroll:

I know what you mean about the shopping order driving you bonkers, the best with one with ours used to be when they wouldn't send me any bread because apparently, they didn't have any!

What you need to do Joan is tweet the problem to them, one lady got an entire advert out of Tesco after she tweeted them and unfortunately it seems in this day and age if you want to get noticed you have to tweet about it! I bet they'd sort you out in a jiffy if you did that.

As for the apps I'm with you guys, I don't do anything on my phone I'm pc all the way so if I need to download it onto my phone, I simply don't do it.

Lol, you made me laugh when you said you weren't on the go! :lmao:

As for today's gen unfortunately for them, they are in a tech age so when they have no internet or wifi the world falls over. I must admit that when the tech does go down, I realise how many things I use with it but I'm still savvy enough to get the pen and paper out when needs be.

I'm a bit tired now as it has been a long day so after catching up with you guys finally, I think I'm off to watch a bit of TV.

Hope you managed to watch something worthwhile Angie, have a good rest and come back bright eyed and bushy tailed. :lmao:

Lol, bright eyed and bushy tailed, I don't think I've been like that since my teens! 😆 No, I'm tired again today as I've been accounting all day and I have an abscess on my tooth! So fun and games.

I'm not quite sure what TV I watched, something that I didn't have to think about obviously! It was something on Netflix I remember that much but not much else.

I've been quite productive blasting through my in-tray today and working through my emails, so it's been a good day, but I'm just feeling tired now. 😴

You be careful, you'll burn yourself out if you're not careful so just slow down and rest up more. :scream:

Yeah, I'll send some lazy vibes your way! Get a blanket, a big bowl of ice cream, and zone out on TV

I'd love to, but unless I'm dead or dying, it doesn't work like that in this house — things to do and people to be fed and all that. :lmao:

Ah thank you, I am sat down, so I am kind of resting if that counts. The last time I had a TV day was when I pulled my back out and John was on the school run! At the minute I'm catching up on emails and taking my antibiotics so not overexerting myself but still doing something and being productive. I'm not the type to sit and do nothing I have too many things to do.

I promise I'll do it at a slower rate though.

I am so damned annoyed. Wednesday I ordered another printer for John from Amazon, it was scheduled to come today, delivery via Hermes. I've not had problems with them before today. Got to about 3pm, although they say they deliver up to 8pm, and thought I'd track it, apparently they had delivered it just after 12 and left it in my porch, don't know how as I don't have one and the photo they showed was a bit dark but it showed the box on a mat and some wellingtons behind it, we don't own any wellingtons.

Got onto Amazon and they are sending a replacement which is arriving Sunday.

I then went to try and find a number for Hermes to give them a piece of my mind but the only one I found was just automated and didn't help so tried to find an email address, which I couldn't find.

While on the web site I saw a symbol down in the corner and pressed it to find it was a chat window. Gave details to the first person and then I got transferred to Customer Services. After telling them the problem they went to check things out, came back and asked if I'd checked the photo they'd put to which I replied of course I have and it's not part of my home nor do I know who it belongs to.

They went off to get in touch with the courier came back and said he was going to go back to the address and get it back and bring it tomorrow. :grrr:

Well he brought it round this morning, saying all he could do was apologise. In some ways it was funny as it had been left at Southwinds, just down the road and I'm Fourwinds, my friends used to live there before the wife died and her husband moved away but I didn't know who had moved in and my landlord has just bought it but not moved in yet. :lmao:

The present owner didn't know me or he would have brought it round to me, that's what the delivery man said.

I've got a replacement coming tomorrow and the Amazon person said to just refuse delivery if the original turned up but I'm going to keep it as mine is getting a bit long in the tooth, I can keep it as backup if any problems arise, just got to pay for it when it arrives.

We gave Kelly Johns old one as theirs had packed up and she needed one for her job, that way it saved them some money having to buy another one for the time being.

So today I've been busy setting the new one up to Johns desktop and laptop. I've now got to catch up with my own stuff. :eyeroll:

:lmao: Sorry about that Bill, should have the replacement between 12:42 pm and 13:42 pm, haven't decided whether to set it up today or leave it till tomorrow when I shouldn't be as busy, well apart from doing loads of washing.
