National Cupcake Week: 16-22nd September 2013 (1 Viewer)

It's National Cupcake Week in September, and I have been looking at the information for the National Cupcake Championships 2013. They have a Competition for both Professionals and Home Bakers, and they have recently extended the deadline!

I can't wait to see all the lovely cupcake creations that will be made.

For the championships unfortunately not because I have other business commitments that week but who knows maybe next year! :wink: I will see if I can squeeze some in that week though.

These are swirly whirly cupcakes as both the buttercream and cupcake have coloured swirls in them.

They look gorgeous, that's the only trouble coming here you always make me feel so hungry seeing these scrummy cakes.:p

So these were my Cookie Monster Cupcakes, my fur wasn't perfect as my buttercream was a little soft. However, when I re-do them at a later date I will add a little of the fur round the white of the eyes to create an eye lid. I tried it after the fact and it actually looked better!

I created the fur using a Wilton 233 nozzle or a grass nozzle as it's also called.

These are a fun cupcake and great for the kids!

Thank you, I used milky bar buttons for the white part and rolled circles of black icing for the pupils. You could use choc chips for the pupils if you don't have any icing/fondant.

......ensure the rounded side of the milky bar button is the side you stick to the buttercream. The flat side should be the side you use to stick the pupil too.
 
Thanks, it certainly makes them look good and even though I wont make any myself at least you've given others looking at them the information they'd need to make them. :wink:
