So we're finally back after the summer break and this evening's lesson is enchanting and all things fairy themed. It is lovely to see familiar faces returning and wonderful to see our new batch of students who are eager to learn.

Once we have all the formalities out of the way, I then begin the lesson. We start off by making the ladybug creature, then move onto the cute caterpillar and finish the first demonstration off with a toadstool. During the demo, we get into discussions about shapes and sizes, round bits, squashed bits and then about bits and bobs in general. This was all mainly aimed at the shape of the toadstool and how it's shape may be perceived! Who would have thought that an enchanted fairy-themed cupcake workshop would bring about such a debate lol! Needless to say, our lovelies were happy to make their toadstool shapes exactly how they pleased, albeit with a lesson on where certain decorations should be placed. Swiftly moving on...

Here are Gail, Julie and Jenny getting creative!

Once the first demo had been done, I made the ladies some light refreshments and had a walk round to see how they were getting along. Susan was happily adapting her ladybug and adding feet whilst the new ladies were making their first attempt at decorating. Considering they have never really done any workshops before they are making great progress.

Here are Susan, Vikki, Lynsey and Linda modifying and creating their own fairy designs.

Now onto stage two; the second demo was the fairy wand, fairy slippers and our course, our favourite fairy. I made the wand and fairy slippers and then moved onto the fairy showing the ladies how to create a few different eye expressions and her up 'do'. I advised the ladies to try and keep the sizes of the facial features the same so that the face had balance. Once let loose some of the ladies were having a giggle and making slightly larger hooter noses than needed so I advised them that less is most definitely more in this department and would balance out the face much better.

It has been another wonderful evening, the ladies have had a nice time, and our new students have created some lovely cupcake toppers straight off the bat.

Thank you, ladies, for a lovely evening and here are your creations.
