Yes it did Bill, he took it steady and felt OK when he got home again.

He went in the garage who do the work on his car and explained the situation and they will pick it up at the end of the month and take it back to the garage. They'll check it over and give him a price what it will cost to get it through it's MOT so he can then decide if it's worth the expense or not to put it back on the road. :worried:

He took the form and necessary proof into the Post Office, which they accepted, to get his bus pass which should take about 12 days to get here.

All in all it was a successful trip out for him to say it was the first time out since coming out of hospital.

That's great news that John is getting out and about on his own and making it back in one piece. that's nice of the garage to sort the car out for him, hopefully it will get through the MOT and then you can sort out what you are going to do with it.

Has John got to take it easy for the forth coming months and is he alright with not driving for a while or does he not mind?

At least in the meantime he has free transportation once his bus pass arrives, Hans got to pay £7 a week either that or different amounts depending on when she travels. I've just told her to get a weekly pass regardless as it's cheaper for her.

The weather at the moment is absolute dire, I'm not quite sure what it wants to do, this morning it lashed it down again at school time and now it's dry and windy. I always feel sorry for my Dad in this weather as he works outside in it!

Hi Angie, yes he does have to take it easy, he has the appointment to go to the clinic at the hospital in December and he should find out then if he is allowed to drive again. At the moment he's ok not driving but that's because he has no choice. The only problem is it's making things more expensive as I have to get the veg for the guinea pigs with my Tesco shop and the dry food via Amazon plus the wild bird seed. He'd usually go to Lidl's for all the veg and the farmers outlet store for the seed and dry food. It is more awkward as the buses don't go to the places he usually goes and you can't carry the amount of stuff you'd usually get. He went out again last Friday to the next village to get the electric and another couple of bits, but you have the waiting about then for another hour before you can get a bus back and he's not fit enough to do the walk as it's about 2 or more miles away and uphill coming back.

I know down here you can get day passes, weekly passes, and monthly passes so travel is a bit cheaper, I mean it costs about £5.50 for a return ticket to Tenby which is about 5 miles away and takes about 20 minutes to get there. It's a good job he should have his pass before he has to go to the hospital as that's about 1½ hours journey each way and I've no idea how much that costs.

The weather here is the same, today it's been blowing a gale and we've had rain, the sky has had very black clouds about all day. :(

It was 80+ today, but overcast. Around 5 I heard thunder, and started to see lightning in the distance. It moved closer and we've had some rain. Nothing major, but good to knock the dust down, and reduce any fire danger. A Guy

No internet, no electric, no kitchen, no hot water and no fun this is our lives currently. I promise I will be back to play and converse properly when I'm not washing pots in the bath and things start to work around here lol. Glad you two are having fun though ha ha!

Wow! that doesn't sound like fun Angie, sorry you're struggling you've only just moved in as well. :anguished:

I take it you're having the kitchen done then, how come you've got no electric or internet though?

Reuter kind of died this morning and the internet is kind of patchy at the mo sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and then the electric is on off on off at the minute especially with the kitchen being out. Han thought I was kidding when I told her I was washing pots in the bath. I know it will all be worth it or so I keep telling myself but I don't do chaos and we have plenty of it at the moment.

It had better be OK or you'll feel it wasn't worth all the chaos, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed and thinking about you till you tell us it's all done and everything is working as it should, I want pictures as well. :D

We've had our eyes tested earlier, this is the first time John's had his done at home, had mine done at home for the last couple of years. I always pick the free ones, even though I have bi-focals, John's are the ones we have to spend on. Not too bad though as it's only £11 more than he paid last year and that's for 2 pair. He has a reading/computer pair and his normal everyday distance ones for £80 this year and both have the modern flexible frames which are usually over a £100 each frame. He usually goes for metal frames as the plastic ones tend to break easily on him. :eyeroll:

He turned round and said I should treat myself, told him we couldn't afford it he cost too much to keep. :scream:

Seems like your old house was better

I will post pics, the tiler is coming tomorrow and the kitchen cupboards should be here over the weekend so there is definitely progress.

I didn't realise you could have eye tests done at home, John mentioned about getting Hans done which to be honest I haven't thought of doing even though we go regularly. I'm due one this year so hopefully I will be all singing and dancing again but it may be worth an ask if they do ones for kids.

Lol, Your John is getting a little expensive, that's my John too if I needed frames or lenses for glasses I'd be in the bargain bucket, not my John he wants the biggest and shiniest ones.

....Old house errr no not by a long shot, this is short term disruption for a massive gain! It will be FABULOUS when it's finished.

I was of course kidding, phallic driveway notwithstanding :) My eyes for reading are getting weaker. Just changed my PC from the 110 DPI I've used for years, to 118. But 57 next week, and don't wear glasses, think I'm doing well :)

The driveway is a fabulous talking point lol. [emoji16] You're doing really well for 57 and no specs. I'm wondering this time round if I may need them for reading.

We get our eye tests done at home because we are pensioners and can't get to the optician anymore.
I didn't have to have glasses till I was in my forties, mainly because I was doing all that cross stitching for the shop so needed to be able to see close work. I can go about now without them but it just makes things just that bit sharper with them.

The garage came to pick the car up this morning, if you remember John put a SORN on it when he was advised not to drive for the time being. It's due it's MOT middle of October and John said it depended on how much it was going to cost to get it through the test whether he'd go ahead or scrap it, he'll find out in December whether or not he'll be able to drive again although he's only got just over a year before he'll have to start renewing his driving license every 3 years.

Oh nearly forgot, remember when I said he wasn't fit to do the walk from the next village, last week he proved it. I told him when he went not to try walking home, after he'd been gone for a shorter time than I expected he was walking up the drive with another person, I didn't know who it was but obviously someone who knew us. They went and he came in holding the shopping bag in front of him with blood on it also on his hand. He'd tried to walk home and got so far when he felt funny, held onto the wall then slip down. The person had stopped and given him a lift home. When I looked into the bag the TV book was wet with pages stuck together and he'd got 2 boxes of eggs but one was upside down and there were 2 eggs in each box smashed.

It wasn't but at least it proved he's not fit enough yet to try walking any distance. He didn't try it this week anyway but waited for the bus to get back, had chats with others waiting as well so at least he wasn't on his own, oh and I got all the eggs intact this week, there were 3 boxes this time so it's a good job. :eyeroll:

Aww bless him and how nice of the person to give him a lift home. Good job he saved the eggs this week or he'd have been toast lol. [emoji23]

He shouldn't over do it but at least he's being sensible now and getting the bus. I'm sure he'd prefer driving but at least the bus will save his legs.

I didn't know that they did eye tests at home but that's great for you and John. I'm not sure when I'm next due an eye test. Han brought a school photograph letter home the other day and the print is so tiny I had to borrow John's reading glasses just to try and read it. My eyes are in really good shape but when it comes to really fine print I now need to zoom in and sharpen. [emoji851]

I think half the time that's why they do such fine print so you can't be bothered to read it and miss something important.

The usual time between tests is 2 years but because of my age and John's diabetes ours are every year, once a year John has to go to the hospital for a back of the eye photo to see if his diabetes is having any adverse effect on his eyes. :)
