A range of tiered and carved cakes that I have made.
A simple yet elegant Graduation Cake, consisting of a Graduation Cap (Mortarboard cap), Scroll and simple congratulation message. This is a 10-inch Madeira cake, filled with succulent strawberry jam and buttercream then covered in marzipan and icing fondant for an extra smooth finish.
Here is my latest cake carved creation, it is made up of two 6 inch Madeira cakes, one square and of course the other one around. I have carved the dress and used the remaining cake for Holly's crown. I used edible Doric Glitter to enhance Holly's dress, and everything on the cake board is edible barring the candles.
Father Christmas, Santa Claus or Kris Kringle, no matter what you call him, he makes a special appearance on this Christmas cake! This was another rich fruit cake covered in marzipan and icing. The sack was made using chocolate-flavoured icing, and I inserted large edible teardrops to add colour to it. The rope around the top of it was made from marzipan. Father Christmas himself was made using Black, White and Red Icing. I used paprika colouring for the flesh face colour. The presents on the top of the cake are dyed white icing, moulded into squares, and the lines were made using the back of a knife. I also used a holly leaf cutter for the leaves and rolled the cherries myself. Snowman Snowflake Cake Knitted Rudolph Cake...
Brrrr, a penguin family Christmas cake. This is a rich fruit cake topped with Courvoisier. I made the penguins using black, white and orange Renshaw ready to roll icing. The Christmas tree is out of a decoration set and is the only thing on the cake that isn't edible. The igloo was handmade and shaped using white icing and then scored with a design wheeler to create the block effect on it. I then used push cutters to make the snowflakes. I lightly dusted the snowball pile, igloo and Christmas tree with a little icing sugar to add additional effect. Igloo Penguin Cake 2D Penguin Cake Cake Showcase
Captivating Cherry Blossom. This is a two-tier Madeira cake (as per the liking of my lovely friend whom I made it for), it's filled with raspberry jam and covered with professional icing bought from the cake shop. The three candles represent three wishes and the age of the lady of the cake is represented in flowers. As we all know, it isn't polite to ask a lady her age or display it in its full glory hence the reason I said it with flowers.
This is an under the sea mermaid-themed birthday cake. I made a Madeira sponge cake filled with buttercream and jam. I covered it with icing/fondant and then created the creatures using different coloured icing. I created the mermaid by using a Doll Pick for the head and body. I made her tail and covered her chest area with icing and to make the pattern in her tail I used a basketweave rolling pin. I then used a leaf cutter to make the fin parts of the tail. The sand at the base of the cake is brown sugar.
Christmas overload...this was a Christmas cake that my Dad helped me create and was our centrepiece for Christmas dinner. He had fun making the front two snowmen and did really well, considering they were his first attempt ever at making snowmen. He inspired me to do the penguins and melted snowman on the top, and we had a lot of laughs putting the final design together. Here are some of the other Penguin designs I have come up with. Bright, colourful two-tier art mosaic cake with edible photo and decorations. I made this two-tier cake for my daughter's 7th birthday party as she had it at an arts and crafts centre. All decorations on the cake are edible; the paintbrush was made using white icing that was dyed brown, I also gave the handle of the brush a marbled wooden effect to make it look more realistic. The white pot is also edible along with the rice paper photo that was made to fit a cupcake but was the perfect size to be transferred onto the cake.
A sumptuous chocolate gift, from a cake that keeps on giving. This is a marble cake, covered with melted chocolate, surrounded by Chocolate two-tone cigarillo's, topped with Thornton's chocolate's and finished off with chocolate sprinkles and a bow.
