Colour Splash Food Dyes Review
These colour splash concentrated food dyes come in an array of wonderfully bright colours. The colours I have recently purchased are: Lime Sunflower Violet Green Orange Pink Blue Strawberry Pistachio Peacock Lemon Christmas Red. Size/Weight The tube itself is 135mm long x 40mm wide at the top of the tube and about 18mm wide where the tip/nib of the tube is. It contains 25g of food dye and will expire in approximately 2 years time. Uses They can be used to colour icing fondant, buttercream, royal icing, cake batter, amongst others, although I have only used them currently to dye cake batter to make rainbow cakes at this time. The gel is very easily distributed as it passes through a thin nib, making it easy to control how...

A cupcake book packed with fun themes that will delight the little ones and amaze your friends. I must admit that I am very much a fan of Ann Pickard's work and her simple, no-nonsense take on cake decorating. If you have ever wanted to roll up your sleeves and have a go at baking and decorating cupcakes, then this is definitely a book for you. In the book, Ann covers some essential occasions such as Christmas, Summer, Halloween, Wedding themed designs showing you how to make 2D and 3D cupcake toppers such as Santa, Penguins, a Christmas tree to a Snowman and even incorporates a twist on them to enhance the decoration. There are also flower designs, fishes, clowns, dolphins etc. the list goes on and on. There is a total of 30...
FMM Impression Mat Stone Wall and Cobble Stone Set 2 Review
This is 'Set 2' from the FMM Impression Mat collection and is the Stone Wall and Cobblestone designs. The mat sizes I received were 147mm in length x 71mm wide x 4 mm thick and were a lime green in colour. These mats are made from a bendy silicone and were very thick and sturdy. Before use, I washed the mats in hot soapy water and left them to air dry. I tried the cobblestone design out first; I rolled out my sugarpaste fondant onto a lightly dusted surface, then placed the dusted mat on top of the sugarpaste fondant and then rolled over it with a rolling pin. I then cut around the mat and peeled it away to leave the impression. The mat peeled away easily and created a fabulous cobblestone effect. This would be an excellent...
FMM Impression Mat Tree Bark and Brick Wall Set 1 Review
These are 'Set 1' from the FMM Impression Mat collection and are the Tree Bark and Brick Wall designs. The mat sizes I received were 147mm in length x 69mm wide x 3 mm thick and lime green in colour. They feel a touch on the slim side; however, they are still sturdy enough to hold their shape. Before usage, they were washed in hot soapy water. However, when cleaning the tree bark mat, I noticed slight marks on it, which I tried to remove. Unfortunately, the marks are ingrained into the plastic and won't go even after a thorough scrubbing; the brick wall mat is fine, though. Out of the two impression mats, I tried the tree bark mat first; I rolled out my sugarpaste fondant on a lightly dusted surface; I then placed the mat on top of...
Bake Fun Vintage Lace Impression Mat/Pad Set 4 Review
Intricately designed impression mats that will make you look like an ultimate cupcake/cake professional in a matter of seconds. These are 'Set 4' of Bake Fun's Vintage Lace Impression Mats and another great addition. The mats sizes that I received were 143mm in length x 69mm wide x 3 - 4mm thick and were again a pastel blue shade and made of a hardened plastic silicone; they are easy to bend and peel away from sugarpaste fondant and have a sturdy feel to them. They washed well in hot soapy water and dried fine. I like these impression mat designs as they have multiple uses; the large-flowered emblem design or intricate bell with star design (depending on how you look at it) cuts perfectly to sit on a cupcake and has a wow factor...
Bake Fun Vintage Lace Impression Mat/Pad Set 3 Review
These retro and floral vintage lace impression mats have a quality feel about them and will give you quick and easy patterned results. After buying 'Set 2' of the Vintage Lace Impression Mats from Bake Fun, I was keen to try out 'Set 3'. The mats themselves are made of plastic and silicone; they are easy to bend but sturdy enough not to be flimsy. They were 143mm in length x 68mm wide x 3 - 4mm thick and were pastel blue in colour. I pre-washed the mats before use in hot soapy water, and they washed and dried fine. There are two very different designs in this package, the first one being a very sharp, diamond, even retro style print; I think this print would look very impressive on a boys robot birthday cake or even on a special...
Bake Fun Vintage Lace Impression Mat/Pad Set 2 Review
These intricate vintage impression mats will deliver quick results, enhance your cupcakes and bring you excellent results time after time. The vintage mats I received were 141mm in length x 67mm wide x 3 - 4mm thick and are a pastel shade of blue. There are two designs in the package one is very intricate and would be a beautiful topper to use for a baby shower cupcake, and the other design reminds me a little of celebrations and fireworks. I found the mats themselves to be made of plastic and silicone; they are easy to bend but sturdy enough not to be flimsy. I pre-washed the mats before use in hot soapy water, and they washed and dried fine. They are extremely easy to use, and the pattern impression looks lovely, I lightly...
12 Piece My Little Pony Figures Set Review
A 12 set piece of My Little Pony figures, which are great as little gifts for children or can be used as a decoration on top of cakes or cupcakes. I bought this 12 piece set of My Little Ponies because I am making a birthday cake for my god-daughter who has requested a My Little Pony cake. Once ordered the ponies arrived quickly in a small box and a plastic bag. As I am going to use them as cake toppers, I had to wash them in hot soapy water first. They cleaned and dried fine and looked really good; there is one pony that has a slightly fainter face than the others but nothing that spoils its effect and nothing that anybody would notice unless you told them. There are 11 ponies and 1 Dragon in the collection, they are all different...
Debbie Brown’s 50 Easy Party Cakes Review
This is one of the first cake decorating books I bought when I was looking to venture into the cake decorating side of things, and I’m glad I found it. The contents page itself gives you an insight into the array of designs Debbie has incorporated into the book; there is something for all occasions, such as Trains, Wise Owl, Dotty Dragon's and a Treasure map, to name but a few. I have made a few of the designs in the book, which are pictured below; I made the chick cake for my goddaughter and the skull and crossbones cake for Halloween, adding my own little creepy crawly touches to it. It may not have been perfect, but it helped me learn how to cut and shape cakes and how to use sugarpaste fondant. I made the toadstool cake...
