Well, I was back teaching again last night and what a night it was....busy doesn't even cover it! :D Barring the fact that the room was like a sauna and the heat was definitely getting to me (I, unfortunately, renamed one of our students Pauline sorry Michelle!) The creativity and enthusiasm flowed like a never-ending waterfall! The ladies were fast, furious and created an array of wonderful cake creations which they and myself were very proud of. :D At the beginning of the evening, the ladies were a little unsure and slightly reluctant to let me take any pictures of what would be their finished creations and subsequently denied my request, :( however, after a little assistance and encouragement they went at lightning speed...
These strawberry and marshmallow kebabs are quick and easy treats and are simply delicious, even better they do not require any cooking; :D all you need is a pack of assorted marshmallows, a tub of fresh strawberries, dark chocolate sauce and wooden or metal skewers. You and the children will have fun making them and even more, fun devouring them....hmmm delicious!
Well last night's workshop was not without its drama's, firstly I arrived a little behind schedule, we, unfortunately, had a no show from one of our ladies due to a family emergency and another one of our ladies got lost, so after sending Louise outside to be our tour guide thus getting some roadside advertising in the process, we finally managed to settle down into a proper lesson. And what a lesson it was, we had great fun creating the garden creatures, lots of giggles, a bit of a question and answer session finished off with beautiful creations. I'm very impressed with the ladies skill set and think they did immensely well; there was lots of concentration and a mass of hard work. :) I had a thoroughly delightful evening teaching...
Ok, last time I made some biccies they got eaten the kids before I could take a pic so here are today's efforts chocolate chip ginger biscuits with orange white chocolate buttons. yum! and these mutants were made by Danny and me. :D
I would like to say thank you to Jan, Gail, Louise, Kathy and Hazel for attending the Mother's Day Themed Workshop last night. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. :D The creativeness and concentration were most definitely flowing, and I love the fact that the ladies were happy to experiment with the icing to get their desired looks even though some of them had never used icing before. Here are the demo cakes for HMB100:- Angie:- I am very proud of you all, for a lovely evening and a job well done! As promised here are your wonderful creations:- Jan: These are Jan's beautiful designs; I think this may be the only picture of them as a set as I know when she went home her daughter devoured one! A job well done then! :) Gail...
This is a birthday cake I put together for my daughter's 9th birthday back in the beginning of January. A Victoria sponge cake bought from Tesco, then I made some butter icing, and then moulded a cat from some black shaping icing (or whatever its called). I used some sprinkles for the eyes.
Well today Han and I decided to bake a checkerboard cake, the dimensions aren't perfect, but I highly doubt anybody would be taking a tape measure to it. The order of the day was fun which is exactly what we had....oh along with a lovely piece of cake at the end of it!
I did a guest teaching slot at Worsley College last night and had the opportunity of meeting some of the ladies on Linda's course. I would like to say a big hello to you all. (Kay, Barbara, Denise, Lisa, Michelle & Judith). We had lots of fun, enjoyed our lesson and even had a Christmas meal together, one of many I'm sure...well if Linda has anything to do it then most definitely! Here are some of the creations..... Denise: This is Denise's fabulous design which encompasses every element of the Christmas spirit, I had the opportunity of spending time with her last night and found out that she has over 30 years experience in baking and cooking. I'm looking forward to seeing her again on Saturday at the Festive weekend course and...
This week at college we have looked at covering cake boards, edging techniques and made some Christmas models. I'm also very impressed with Liz for bringing all her stuff in! These are the models the girls and I made:- Angie: This was my pre-made models to illustrate the varieties of Christmas themed models you can make. Ana: Ana has done a fabulous job with her models; I especially love her two-tone marble coloured stars and her very happy snowman. Claire: Claire has done great tonight in the time she had, she has iced the cake board, made a few models, and we also managed to cover one of the tiers for her fruit cake, which she had made for a friend's graduation. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures on that...
